Celsia Colombia wins tender for Pacífico electrical substation

Colombia, Bogota: The UPME awarded the project for the new substation in the Colombian Pacific, which will start operating in 2025.

The Mining and Energy Planning Unit – UPME awarded the firm Celsia Colombia SAESP the new 230 kV Pacific electrical substation project and associated transmission lines, located in the vicinity of the municipality of Buenaventura.

The package of works whose investment amounts to $55 M will include a 230 kV double-circuit transmission line with an approximate length of 74 km which will connect the new substation with the San Marcos Substation, in the municipality of Yumbo.

To the public hearing carried out in a virtual way through the application of calls of the UPME and transmitted live on the entity’s YouTube channel, they also presented as proposing firms Interconectado Eléctrica SAESP and Grupo Energía Bogotá SAESP.

The new Pacifico 230 kV substation and associated transmission lines are part of the works defined in the Electric Transmission Expansion Plan that UPME formulated for the period 2017 – 2031 and the expected date of commissioning is 31 May 2025.

This work becomes the second way of supplying electricity to Buenaventura, which will allow for better services to its inhabitants and development possibilities for this important port.
