OPTCL to commission four major projects in a day

India, Bhubaneswar: By charging three EHV grid substations and one LILO line in a day, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation (OPTCL) set a record on 14 July.

The day started with charging of first 132/33 kV power transformer at 132 kV Gunupur GSS at 3:58 p.m. and the second one at 4:13 p.m. IST in Rayagada district. The 132 kV Gunupur GSS was energised from Akhusingh grid with line length of 24 km.

The 132 kV Thuapalli GSS in Bargarh district was commissioned with charging of first 20 MVA transformer at 5:26 p.m. IST and the second one at 5:33 p.m. IST with LILO arrangement from 132 kV Katapalli – Bargarh line.

The 220 kV Telkoi GSS in Keonjhar district was commissioned with charging of 20 MVA 220/33 kV transformer at 6:22 p.m. IST with LILO arrangement from 220 kV TTPS – Joda line.

The 40 km LILO line from 132 kV Jayanagar-Tentulikhunti II was energised at 7:51 p.m. IST in Nabarangpur district. This LILO line shall facilitate further commissioning of 132 kV Nabarangpur GSS.

With the commissioning of above projects, OPTCL has added 100 MVA power transformation capacity to the Odisha Grid with five 20 MVA EHT power transformers spread across three GSS. In the process, 64 km of EHT power lines were added to the Odisha network.

Energy Department Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and Principal Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal (also Chairman of OPTCL) have congratulated all employees of the Corporation and agencies in commissioning such large number of projects in a single day amid the risk of COVID-19 pandemic.
