India, UT J&K, Srinagar: A new power substation has been commissioned under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

In a release, IPDS nodal agency Power Finance Corporation said that the 33/11 kV, 6.3 MVA substation in Rajouri district of the UT (union territory) of Jammu & Kashmir was recently inaugurated.

The inauguration ceremony is part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations marking 75 years of India’s independence.

The project will benefit more than 1,200 domestic and commercial consumers of Upper Nonial, Lower Nonial, Berari, Gai, Chadyala, Kanara Patrati and the surrounding areas and reduce forced curtailment of power supply in the region nad reduce load on the existing 10 MVA Nowshera and 6.3 MVA Chowki Handan substations, the release added.

The project was inaugurated on a virtual platform by Baseer Ahmad Khan, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Jammu & Kashmir, Er. Gurmeet Singh, MD, JPDCL and Saurav Kumar Shah, IPS, Executive Director (IPDS), PFC.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by other senior dignitaries from PFC and JPDCL (the project implementation agency) and Power Tech Engineers Ltd, the project turnkey contractor for the project.
