New Zealand, Putaruru: Wilson Transformer Company has announced on 23 August to have delivered a new power transformer in New Zealand.

The company has offloaded a 17 MVA 33 kV power transformer at the Powerco Putaruru Substation in the picturesque setting of New Zealand. The transformer has been designed to operate safely and efficiently under a wider range of climatic conditions, such as high level of humidity, seismic and wind loads. Once installed, the transformer will help ensure safe, reliable and resilient power supply in the South Waikato area.

Wilson Transformer Company Pty. Ltd. engineers and manufactures power and distribution transformers. From their manufacturing base in Australia, the company delivers solutions to a wide variety of industries and customers around the world. The company offers generator, system transmission, substation, mobile transformers and rectifier transformers for the power supply industry.

Powerco, the second-largest gas and largest electricity distributor in New Zealand, is investing over $33 M to improve reliability and increase capacity of power supply for the South Waikato towns of Putaruru and Tirau, and the Hinuera area. The company is building a new connection to the national grid with a 110 kV circuit from Transpower’s Arapuni substation to supply a new transformer at the existing Powerco Putaruru substation.
