Successful testing of autotransformer

Croatia, Zagreb: Končar Power Transformers Ltd., a joint venture of Siemens Energy and Končar, has announced a successful testing of an autotransformer.

Croatia, Zagreb: Končar Power Transformers Ltd., a  joint venture of Siemens Energy and Končar, has announced a successful testing of an autotransformer.

The company has reported to have successfully tested a 3-phase 420 MVA, 230/120/13.2 kV autotransformer for their customer, Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

In the announcement, Končar Power Transformers Ltd. has stated that this was one of the most complex transformer designs they have done. The autotransformer was designed with an OLTC and DETC, a booster transformer and a built-in reactor (with a total of 24 windings inside the tank).

The transformer has already been loaded on a vessel. The installation at the site is expected in November 2021.

The company has also announced that they plan to deliver three more similar units.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company, incorporated in California in 1905, is one of the largest combined natural gas and electric energy companies in the United States. Based in San Francisco, the company is a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation.
