Main power transformer at Dresden caught fire
Germany, Dresden: A main power transformer at Dresden Station in Morris caught fire early on 16 October, but operators at the station quickly extinguished it.

Germany, Dresden: A main power transformer at Dresden Station in Morris caught fire early on 16 October, but operators at the station quickly extinguished it.
The transformer was located near the station’s switchyard, adjacent to the plant buildings.
“Unit 3 was immediately shut down and remains stable. Unit 2 was not impacted by the event and remains online,” said in the news release from Exelon.
The transformer caught fire at 4:28 a.m. The station’s “onsite, highly-trained fire brigade” had the fire extinguished by 6:22 a.m., the release said.
No plant personnel were injured during the fire. The fire did not impact public health or safety. The fire is under investigation, the release said
Because the fire met the criteria for declaring an unusual event (the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s lowest emergency classification for events), the “unusual event was declared and terminated Saturday morning and Exelon Generation notified all appropriate federal, state and local stakeholders,” the release said.
