Nepal, Bharatpur: Both power transformers at the 132/11 kV Bharatpur substation in Bharatpur Metropolitan City are now operational.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) reported that one of the two transformers at the substation had suffered damage on 30 October the then other one on 2 November. NEA removed the damaged transformer and brought a substitute 22.5 MVA capacity transformer from Lekhnath substation in Kaski to connect it to Bharatpur substation and resume electricity supply to the domestic consumers. Regular power supply was restored after 36 hours, with charging of the new transformer.

NEA also restored electricity supply to industries in Bharatpur area on the evening of 7 October, after the transformers became fully operational.

As the capacity of the substation is now 45 MVA, there are no more issues in supplying electricity to all consumers including industrialists, said Rajiv Kumar Singh, Head of NEA’s Distribution and Customer Service Centre in Bharatpur.

According to Singh, further the installation works on a 15 MVA capacity transformer have commenced at 132/11 kV substation in Aaptari. Three feeders have been removed from the substation for power supply.
