Peru inaugurates the first wind power plant in Cajamarca

Peru, Cajamarca: On 20 November, the Central Government inaugurated the Duna y Huambos wind project, in the province of Chota, Cajamarca region.
It is the first wind power plant to be installed in the mountains of Peru and its purpose is to produce electricity from renewable sources. The plant will be integrated into the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) for the benefit of millions of Peruvians.
The inauguration ceremony was led by the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, and the Vice Minister of Electricity, Martín Dávila, on behalf of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Eduardo González Toro; as well as regional authorities and representatives of the Grenergy company, responsible for the project.
These wind farms, which were executed with an investment of approximately $54 M, are infrastructures made up of self-generators, which convert air currents into electrical energy, thereby inserting 36 MW of clean energy into the interconnected system.
It was also reported that a 6 MW power transformer was installed in this wind farm, to provide reliability to the populations of the districts of Huambos, Querocoto, Querocotillo and Cochabamba, ensuring that there will be no interruptions to the electricity service.
