Linxon wins two turnkey substation orders from PGCIL

India: The company has landed a substation extension package to help strengthen power transmission from Bhadla Solar Park in the Indian State of Rajasthan.
Switzerland-headquartered Linxon, a joint venture between project management company SNC-Lavalin and Hitachi Energy, has won two substation orders from state-owned Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), the largest transmission utility in India.
The company has landed an extension package of a 765/400/220 kV substation. As of 2020, Bhadla Solar Park had a total capacity of 2,245 MW spread over a total area of 5,700 ha in Bhadla. The substation extension will help meet the rapidly growing electricity needs in the region and add important capacity to the transmission grid.
Linxon will supply one 765 kV bay, seven 400 kV bays, and two 220 kV bays under this substation extension package.
Linxon has also bagged the order for an extension of the 400/220 kV transmission grid with both air-insulated (AIS) and mixed technology system (MTS) substations included in the project.
These substations will help in increasing the capacity and strengthen the system in the Southern region of India, with an expected total capacity of 1,640 MW.
The Linxon scope for this substation package involves an extension of the substations at Kunta, Kolar, Hiriyur, Kochi, and Tuticorin GIS substation and the increase of transformation capacity at existing Hiriyur and Kochi substation.
