Nepal, Kathmandu: New Modi (Parbat)-Laha Chowk (Kaski) 132 kV double circuit transmission line has been commissioned.

The construction of the new Modi-Laha Chowk section under the New Modi-Lekhnath Transmission Line Project has been completed and is operational from 29 December. The line has been charged by connecting a 30 MVA power transformer at a 132/33 kV substation in Laha Chowk. Electricity supply will be provided to rural municipalities of Kaski from the completed substation.

This will ensure quality and reliable power supply in the area, said Kulman Ghising, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority. He said that there were problems such as power tripping and low voltage as the power supply line from Pokhara to the area was long. “Now, with the supply from Laha Chowk substation, the electricity service of the area will be improved and consumers will get dependable and quality electricity and electricity leakage will also be reduced,” he added.

Under the project, 68 towers have been constructed in this section and 21 km of cables laid. Construction of new Modi-Laha Chowk section transmission line has been completed under the new Modi-Lekhnath project constructed with a concessional loan from Exim Bank of India.
