USA, Mississippi: Entergy Mississippi is set to begin work on a $14 M substation expansion project this month.

The project goal is to improve reliability and modernize its transmission infrastructure for customers in southwest Mississippi and Louisiana.

Work will focus on the Franklin 500 kV substation, expanding it on company land in Franklin County, Mississippi. Upgrades will include new electric facilities and updated protective equipment. Additional upgrades will be undertaken at the McKnight 500 kV substation in Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.

In all cases, the upgrades to the bulk electric system should increase the reliability and protection of the region’s power flow. Work is expected to take most of the year, with construction slated for conclusion by December 2022.
