Saudi Arabia: Alfanar Construction has been awarded a $175 M contract to build a 380 kV substation and expand three existing 380 kV substations.

The local Alfanar Construction has been awarded a $175 M contract to build a 380 kV substation at Baha and expand existing 380 kV substations at Umluj, Al-Wajh and Yanbu.

The projects will be developed on a lump-sum turnkey basis. Scope of works will include design, engineering, materials procurement, factory inspection and testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction works, testing and commissioning and other associated works.

Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in upgrading and expanding its transmission and distribution infrastructure as it seeks to install significant clean energy capacity over the next decade.

In August 2021, L&T Construction, the construction arm of India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T), was awarded a contract to provide and install a 380 kV electrical substation in the Tabuk city area of northern part of the kingdom.
