Germany: Naturstrom AG has announced completion its first hybrid project combining a 7.5-MWp solar plant and a storage facility in the state of Thuringia.

The solar plant, located on a former landfill area in the village of Henschleben near the city of Stassfurt, has been in operation since October 2021 while the installation of the storage system has been just completed. The battery is connected directly to the solar park and has the capacity to store more than 1,000 kWh of electricity.

The solar park is expected to generate 7.4 million kWh of green electricity per year which is enough to meet the annual needs of more than 2,300 three-person households.

The hybrid system is operated by NaturEnergy GmbH & Co KGaA which was created at the end of 2020 to be in charge of the construction, operation and financing of the group’s green energy power plants.

The Henschleben project was among the winners in the innovation tender of the Federal Network Agency in 2020. The Duesseldorf-based company plans to implement a second project of similar size this year.
