India, Bihar: Linxon has completed the construction of another substation in Bihar, for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).

In a release, Linxon said that it has completed the construction of a 400/220/132 kV air-insulated substation at Saharsa in Bihar for ERSS XXI Transmission Ltd.

The said company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PGCIL, and is implementing the “Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme XXI (ERSS XXI)” project under the tariff-based competitive bidding route (incidentally, PGCIL has renamed the project SPV to “Powergrid Mithilanchal Transmission Ltd”).

The power demand in Bihar is steadily increasing in this agricultural area. To meet the evolving grid requirements and improve power supply reliability, the interstate transmission network has been expanded covering three new 400 kV substations at Saharsa, Chandauti and Motihari. Of this, the Chandauti substation was completed by Linxon in September 2021.

“We are proud to be associated with this expansion of the power transmission grid of Bihar, supporting regional growth and the ramp-up of transmission and distribution infrastructure. This was yet another good opportunity for Linxon to supply EPC turnkey expertise and state-of-the art substation solutions. The project was delivered amidst the pandemic, so I want specifically to thank our client, the Linxon team and other stakeholders that made this achievement possible,” noted Dinesh Chadha, Managing Director of Linxon in Asia Pacific, on the achievement.
