The Netherlands, Vlissingen: Kolektor Etra has announced successfully assembling two power transformers rated 150 MVA for Stedin.

Kolektor Etra (Energetski Transformatorji d.o.o.), a Slovenian manufacturer of power transformers, specialises in production of transformers up to 500 MVA rated power and 420 kV.

The company has assembled the transformers on the site Vlissingen-Oost station for the Dutch client Stedin.

Dutch grid operator Stedin has reported earlier that the 170-ton and five-meter-high transformer arrived by ship in Vlissingen. By the end of this month, it will be joined by another transformer.

Transformers will convert the sustainable electricity from the solar panels and windmills in the port from 20 to 150 kV. The current is then transported further onto the high-voltage grid. The wind and solar parks of the entrepreneurs in the port will soon supply as much sustainable electricity as approximately 36,000 households consume in a year, which is twice the size of Vlissingen. With this project, Stedin is investing $18.8 M (€17 M) in the energy transition in Zeeland. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
