Mr Smeeton, please, tell us about your role here as the event director.
This is actually my first CWIEME show. I have been with Hyve Group for three years and I have worked on different events. That first show was in 2019, before the pandemic hit. I am very proud to be part of our CWIEME community and very excited to be able to deliver CWIEME Berlin 2022.
We are here at the CWIEME show in Berlin. How is the show going for you? Do you have enough visitors and are you in general satisfied with the program here?
I am extremely satisfied and very proud in what our dedicated team have achieved. Our visitor numbers are up compared to 2019, which is a remarkable achievement considering our community have not met for three years and it is a testament to CWIEME as a brand. Our community are helping us lead the global electric engineering revolution.
Do you have any new projects that you are introducing here?
Yes, we are delighted to be launching Meet the engineer. You can see it live on Wednesday, 11 May at 10 a.m. in hall 1.2. Meet the engineer is our pre scheduled dual opt-in 1-2-1 business meetings where suppliers can meet with engineers who have already shown an interest in their products. For 2023, we are expanding this program across all sectors associated with CWIEME.

How is your business going and what is the situation on your markets?
We are moving from strength to strength. Post the pandemic, we have seen on every show we have run across with Hyve Group, that everyone is so excited to be back and they want to have face-to-face meetings. It’s been very much missed. CWIEME 2022 is a great show, but we are going to do an even better event for our community in 2023.
What are your plans for the future?
Obviously, we will be expanding Meet the engineer programme, as we have made a lot of progress with CWIEME 2022. We are going to see as a team what improvements and what things we can make better for 2023.
