Panama: Greenwood Energy is migrating to the development of larger projects, said Camilo Patrignani, executive VP of energy investments at Libra Group.

New York-based Greenwood provides energy solutions via turnkey systems, specializing in clean and cost-efficient technologies, with a Latin America footprint that covers Colombia and Panama.

“Prior to this shift, our focus was 80 % on distributed generation, now it is 80 % on utility-scale,” Patrignani told the source. “The main factor is to scale up faster. You work the same number of hours on a 1 MW project as on a 100 MW project,” he added.

In April, Greenwood and the Tayrona indigenous confederation launched the 144 MW Terra initiative, a utility-scale solar project in Colombia, and in recent days, the company unveiled a partnership with the University of Panama for a utility-scale project.

The VP said that for now, the focus will be on the two countries.

“We are not looking to expand into other countries just yet, unless it is something very opportunistic. There is so much to do in Panama and Colombia, we have a very extensive pipeline of projects under development,” he said.
