Bhopal’s first GIS HV substation energized

India: Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company has innovated and developed the State’s second and Bhopal’s first GIS substation.

The gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substation will provide strength and reliability to the transmission network of the capital Bhopal. It was energized with 50 MVA power transformer capacity.

This is the second GIS substation of Madhya Pradesh, which is connected to the transmission network of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company. With the commissioning of this substation, power transmission system in the central Bhopal region has been strengthened, another option of Extra High Voltage  substation has become available to Bhopal.

This is the 11th EHV (extra high voltage) substation of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company in Bhopal city that is functional.

Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company, Er Sunil Tiwari informed that the company felt the need for construction of additional substation in Bhopal city in view of the increasing demand of electricity in Bhopal.

The GIS substation was constructed by Hitachi Energy Pvt Ltd.
