Pakistan, Islamabad: Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) will have its own transformer repair shop by June 2023.

The news was recently disclosed by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastagir Khan at the National Assembly.

The Ministry has issued directions in this regard and the work has commenced, said the minister.

HESCO currently hires three private companies for the repair and maintenance of transformers, however the the job is frequently done contrary to the guidelines, therefore the Ministry decided to issue directions for HESCO to establish its own repair workshop by 30 June 2023.

Responding to another question regarding supply of free-of-charge electricity to the employees of power distribution companies, the minister said that according to their job agreement they are entitled to this facility, which can be withdrawn with the support of public representatives.
