Dalekovod completes the first phase of the Slovenia–Hungary interconnection project

Croatia, Zagreb: Croatian company Dalekovod d.d. has commissioned a new double-circuit 400 kV transmission line Cirkovice-Pince.
Having signed over a $60 M-worth contract with Slovenian TSO (transmission system operator) Eles d.o.o. in June 2020, Dalekovod commissioned the 80-km long transmission line on 2 December. Both transmission line systems, the north line Cirkovice-Heviz and the south line Cirkovice-Žerjavinec, were given a trial run on 30 June. All the works were completed within the contracted deadlines.
Once the project is completed the transmission lines will connect the Hungarian and Slovenian power transmission networks at a $400 kV level, thus increasing the capacities of both transmission systems and providing a foundation for future power-related projects.
The transmission line boasts some impressive numbers: 260 towers with a total of 1,040 tower leg foundations, 14,060 installed deep-foundation piles, 260 steel lattice towers with a total of 7,901,910 kg structure, 13,317 m of installed safety climb system, 1,485,780 m of the installed conductor (a total of 486 drums), 82,820 m of installed OPGW, etc.
Dalekovod has also engaged its internal resources to realise another particularly important project involving 104 riggers on the installation of steel lattice towers, 157 electrical wiring fitters, and 51 anti-corrosion protection workers.
The transmission line completion ceremony was attended by the Croatian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davor Filipović, the Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob, and the Prime Minister of Hungaria Viktor Orbán, who performed a symbolic transmission line opening ceremony. Dalekovod has thus fulfilled its strategic plans for 2022, announcing new projects and contracts that will help strengthen the company’s position in the European market.
