Latvia, Riga: Latvenergo donates transformer to help restore Ukraine’s energy infrastructure after the missile attacks.

The three-phase 110 kV transformer is a reserve transformer of the Daugava hydroelectric power plant. The unit weighing 54 T was restored and maintained in excellent condition.

It was donated to Ukraine in response to their request, the donation agreement having been signed with the Ukrainian Government at end of November 2022.

The delivery was coordinated by the Energy Community Secretariat, European Union Emergency Response Coordination Centre, and the Polish strategic reserves agency, in cooperation with Latvenergo and the State Fire and Rescue Service.

“Thanks to Latvenergo’s generosity, this 110 kV transformer will help ensure the stability of the power network for tens of thousands of families suffering from a shortage of electricity this winter,” said Director of Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski.
