USA, Massachusetts, Brockton: A transformer fire forced an evacuation at a hospital Brockton on the morning of 7 February.

The fire happened at about 7 a.m. in the transformer room of Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital on Centre Street.

Brockton Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said they had to decide whether to evacuate the facility because of the electrical nature of the fire.

Firefighters eventually evacuated the hospital because there was no power to the building. Nearly 200 patients were inside when the fire began, according to Nardelli.

Nardelli added that the fire had been nearly extinguished, with a few hot spots remaining.
