Nepal, Kathmandu: The construction of a 33–11 kV Saranghat substation in the rural municipality of Tanahun has been completed.

The substation was developed under a social development programme of the 140 MW Tanahun hydropower project, built by Tanahun Hydropower Ltd., a subsidiary of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

An accompanying 33 kV transmission line was also completed and charged, two days before the commissioning of the substation. The substation uses a power transformer of 6–8 MVA capacity.

The project, which is to make the power supply in the area more secure and reliable, was implemented with the investment of the Nepal government and NEA, as well as a concessional loan from the Asian Development Bank.
