USA, Washington, D.C.: The US Department of Energy has announced $50 M in funding to support clean energy projects on Tribal lands.

Accelerating the deployment of reliable clean energy in Tribal communities reflects the Biden-Harris Administration’s continued commitment to ensuring Tribal nations and their members benefit from the country’s clean energy transition.

Through the funding opportunity announcement, the DoE is soliciting applications for the installation of clean energy generating systems, deployment of community-scale clean energy generation systems or energy storage on tribal lands, installation of integrated energy systems for autonomous operation, and provision of electricity to tribal buildings.

DoE has intended this funding opportunity for Indian Tribes, including Alaska Native Regional Corporations and Village Corporations, Intertribal Organizations, and Tribal Energy Development Organizations.

With funding made available from the budgets for fiscal years 2022 and 2023, DOE anticipates issuing 10 to 25 awards ranging from $100,000 to $5 M. Applicants may submit more than one application, provided each application is for a distinctively different project and each application addresses only one subtopic area.
