China, Xinjiang Uygur: State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co has begun construction of a 750 kV power transmission project in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

This will be the first ultra-high voltage power grid built by the company this year. The total project investment amounts to $66.2 M (4.6 B yuan), and it includes the construction of a 750 kV substation and switching station in Bayingol’s Ruoqiang county.

Within the project, the company will instal a new transformer to the existing electrical systems, a 750 kVA power line that will span over 875 km, which will become operational by December 2024.

“The commencement of this project is an important moment – a good start for the region’s post-pandemic economic recovery,” said Si Weiguo, president of Xinjiang Electric Power.
