India’s $195 M hydropower project awarded

India, Arunachal Pradesh: Patel Engineering Ltd, in the joint venture, has won a civil works package relating to a 2,880 MW Dibang multipurpose project in Arunachal Pradesh.

In a stock exchange communication, Patel Engineering said that its joint venture with an unnamed partner has been declared L1 for a $195 M (Rs 1600 crore) contract relating to the Dibhang project, said to be India’s largest hydropower project so far.

The contract relates to civil and includes head race tunnels including intake, pressure shafts, penstocks, powerhouse and transformer cavern, and accompanying infrastructure.

“We are extremely happy and thrilled to be a part of this mega project which will help shape India’s infrastructure as well as contribute to the local surroundings, the people there and the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The company is currently executing other projects as well in the same state and our experience will help give us an advantage in executing this project,” said Rupen Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Patel Engineering.
