Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo: Aggregation of distributed energy sources is experiencing an expansion in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There are already seven virtual power plants in the nation, totalling 120 MW, which is more than all other Energy Community contracting parties combined. By the end of the year, the Independent System Operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina (NOSBiH) anticipates an increase of 250 MW.

Croatia and Serbia also have virtual power plants. They enabled small producers of green energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, notably solar and hydropower facilities, to sell their electricity on the market at greater rates than under feed-in tariffs. It resulted in their widespread withdrawal from the programs throughout the area.

Nemanja Pandurević, general manager of transmission system operator NOSBiH, points out that BiH now has seven virtual power plants and is also an accountant, allowing generators to choose how to sell electricity at the grid level.

He expressed optimism that the trend would continue and reach maximum available capacity this year, as all generators connected to the grid in total will reach 250 MW.
