USA, North Carolina, Charlotte: The FBI has confirmed that an Eastern Carolina power substation that was vandalised last year was struck by gunfire.

On November 11, 2022, the Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative substation west of Maysville was damaged, initiating an FBI investigation.

The FBI is now offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever fired numerous rounds at the plant on Highway 58, shutting off electricity to over 12,000 residences.

Someone fired bullets at two Duke Energy substations in Moore County three weeks after the Jones County incident. This caused 45,000 consumers to lose power for up to five days.

Then, in mid-January, a gunshot damaged an EnergyUnited substation in Thomasville.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to contact the FBI or the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
