Germany, Augsburg: Transformers Magazine is bringing an interview with Sebastian Kuester, CEO at QUiCKFairs, the organizer of Coiltech Deutschland 2023, held this year in Augsburg.

Sebastian, this is the first time that Coiltech Deutschland is at the new location – Augsburg. Why did you move the exhibition from Ulm?

We moved Coiltech Deutschland from Ulm to Augsburg due to a combination of factors. Firstly, the exhibition was reaching the capacity limit of the Ulm venue sooner than expected, which meant that we needed to find a larger venue to accommodate the increasing demand. Additionally, the city of Ulm was unable to provide us with a guarantee that the fairgrounds would be available due to the accommodation of refugees in part of the halls.

What does this mean for the exhibitors this year, as well as for the following years?

Already this year, the new venue provides an improved experience for both exhibitors and attendees, with even easier access, more modern infrastructure and more space to showcase the latest technologies and products. In the years to come, there is plenty of space to accommodate even more exhibitors.

How the move to Augsburg was accepted among the exhibitors?

Since we communicated the decision, 37 more companies booked a stand. One cancelled the participation because they first want to see how the new venue is accepted amongst visitors. And one other cancelled for other reasons.

What one can see at the first sight when you enter the exhibition area, is that the halls look better, there is more space, booths are bigger and better equipped. Everything is on a higher standard than it used to be at Coiltech in the past, is it not?

We also decided to commission the booth building to another company with better material to ensure an even better visitor experience. This, in combination with the more modern venue, results in an overall upgrade of the already high standards.

What the numbers can tell about this show: How many exhibitors and visitors do you expect?

Exhibitors: almost 400; visitors: at least 3000.

Where are they from?

Exhibitors: about 40% from Germany, 40% from Italy, and 20% from other countries. Visitors: people from over 50 nations have pre-registered.

What figures are you proud of?

Coiltech Deutschland has now taken the lead in the field of Coil Winding Exhibitions and Conferences for the participation of European companies.

How about companies from the transformer industry?

The number of transformer-related exhibitors has further increased and includes LTC, Thyssenkrupp, Rembrandtin, Hedrich, Specialacciai, Nynäs, Megger, Omicron, SynFlex, and Coveme, to name just a few. We are confident that more companies from this side of the Coil Winding industry will join them already in 2024.

This year, Coiltech Augsburg is held on 20-21 March and Coiltech Pordenone 20-21 Sept. The time difference is exactly 6 months. Is this something that you would like to maintain in future?

We plan to continue to hold the German edition in springtime, just before Easter and the Italian edition at the end of September. Both moments are at the end of a quarter and, therefore, good timing for an industry meeting. We will continue to keep the participation and organisation cost low to continue to offer this in an accessible way.
