India, Gujarat: Larsen & Toubro, has received orders to supply gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substations to new renewable energy parks in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

According to a press release, the company is to supply 765 kV and 400 kV GIS substations at Khavda renewable energy zone in Gujarat and in Andhra Pradesh. The order also includes air-insulated switchgear (AIS) bays at the pooling and remote-end substations.

As the country’s power generation evolves, large renewable energy zones are being developed that house several solar and wind projects from various developers in contiguous land parcels. The power generated from such individual projects is collected at pooling substations, located in the vicinity, and then redistributed to intrastate and interstate transmission networks, explained a source from L&T.
