New consortium to electrify Mumbai Metro

India, Mumbai: Siemens Ltd and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) have formed a consortium that has won a tender for a Mumbai Metro rail electrification project.

RVNL has announced that its consortium with Siemens Ltd is to provide the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of two 110 kV receiving substations. The package also includes 110 kV, 33 kV and 25 kV cabling work, and a complete 25 kV overhead catenary system. Furthermore, the consortium will also supply a 33 kV auxiliary power distribution system, including a 33/0.415 kV auxiliary substation and a complete SCADA system.

According to the statement, the contract value is approximately $46 M, however, the letter of award is yet to be issued.

The upcoming Mumbai Metro Line 2B aims to provide connectivity between eastern and western suburban Mumbai. Running 23.64 km from DN Nagar to Mandale, Line 2B will be an elevated corridor with 20 stations.
