Egypt, Kairo: The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed a $3.9 M deal with Siemens to equip El-Alamein Electrical Conversion Plant with transformers.

Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has issued a statement announcing the project that seeks to strengthen electrical power transmission in the North Coast region of the country.

Siemens is to re-equip the El-Alamein plant with 3-cell gas-insulated transformers on a turnkey principle.

The project is expected to be completed within 16 months, explains EETC, with financing allocated from the electricity ministry’s budget for strategic projects.

Siemens has been upgrading Egypt’s electricity generation capacities for the past eight years, with the construction of the main electricity generation plant in New El-Alamein City with a total capacity of 500 kV.
