Switzerland, Zug: Siemens Smart Infrastructure has expanded its sustainable GIS portfolio intended for distribution networks of up to 40.5 kV.

The solution is based on vacuum-interrupter technology and uses a combination of natural-origin gases for insulation, enabling environmentally friendly grid expansion without fluorinated gases.

“As utilities and industries strive to meet ambitious targets to decarbonize and digitalize grids, they are looking for sustainable, intelligent and future-proof products also for higher voltage ratings,” says Stephan May, CEO of Electrification and Automation at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

The modular and compact design of the switchgear makes it suitable for data centres, semiconductor manufacturing industries, and green hydrogen production.
