Chinese company to build HV network in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan, Tashkent: China Electric Power and Technology Co. Ltd. (CET) is to build HV transmission lines and substations in Uzbekistan.

Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and General Manager of CET Yu Yun have signed an agreement according to which the company will provide turnkey delivery of the transmission lines and substations.

Earlier this year, several of China’s and Türkiye’s major power companies won the international tender for developing Uzbekistan’s National Electric Grid JSC for the construction of HV power transmission networks in the city of Tashkent and Sirdarya region.

Following the tender results, Turkiye’s Şa-ra Enerji İnşaat Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş will construct a 220 kV power transmission line the length of 213 km worth $31.8 M, while China’s Xian Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. will establish a 500 kV power transmission line the length of 72 km with a proposed cost of $14.68 M.

Uzbekistan is also on the way to becoming the first country in Central Asia to develop and produce solar energy.
