ANDE’s substation to get $26 M revamp

ANDE has reached 60 % completion of the expansion, modernization and interconnection works of the Alto Paraná substation, located in Ciudad del Este.

Paraguay, Ciudad del Este: ANDE has reached 60 % completion of the expansion, modernization and interconnection works of the Alto Paraná substation, located in Ciudad del Este.

With these works verified by the President of ANDE Félix Sosa and his technical team, the substation will triple its power, from 120 MVA to 400 MVA of power with a capacity for 20 lines of 23 kV for the benefit of nearly 60,000 users in Ciudad del Este.

The expansion works on the substation, awarded to CIE TESA Consortium, includes the construction of fully enclosed 220 kV and 66 kV yards, installation of two 80 MVA 220/23 kV power transformers and two banks of 120 MVA 220/66 power transformers, as well as a new control room.

As the interconnection of the substation, approximately 5.5 km of 220 kV transmission line is being built from Presidente Franco substation to Alto Paraná substation.

The project is being executed through the National Public Tender No. 1482-19, with an approximate investment of $26 M, financed through the loan agreement between ANDE and the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the completion of works is scheduled for July 2024.
