Madhya Pradesh utility improves capacity of 220 kV substation

India, Madhya Pradesh: State power utility Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has improved the capacity of its 220 kV Chichli substation.

In a press release, the utility said that it has energized an additional 160 MVA power transformer at the Chichli substation, potentially strengthening the power transmission capacity of the entire Narshingpur district in Madhya Pradesh.

With the upgrade, the power transmission from the 220 kV Pipariya substation to the Narsinghpur district will be controlled through the 132 kV Bankhedi and Pondar substations.

The transmission capacity of Narsinghpur district now stands enhanced to 1,682 MVA. MPPTCL transmits electricity through 12 substations in this district – two of 220 kV and ten of 132 kV. The enhanced capacity includes 640 MVA on the 220 kV side and 1,522 MVA at the 132 kV level.
