India, Mumbai: SJVN Green Energy enters PPAs for 300 MW of renewable energy projects in India.

SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN, has entered into long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 300 MW of upcoming renewable energy capacity.

In a release, SJVN said that while one PPA was signed for a 200 MW solar power project with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), the other had Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) as the counterparty. The latter relates to 100 MW of wind power capacity.

SGEL won the 200 MW ground-mounted solar project in Maharashtra. The commissioning of the project is slated for December 2024. The solar project will likely generate 456 MU in the first year of operation, with the cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years estimated at around 10481 MU. This project is expected to reduce 5,13,560 tonnes of CO2 emissions and will contribute to India’s goal of 500 GW renewable capacity by 2030.

SJVN has targeted to have a power generation portfolio of 5 GW by fiscal year of 2024, progressing up to 25 GW by 2030 and 50 GW by 2040. Much of SJVN’s power generation portfolio will be based on clean sources – mainly hydropower, solar and wind.
