USA, Amarillo: Xcel Energy has completed the $7.6 M Amarillo substation and power line upgrades.

Xcel Energy has recently finished a $7.6 M substation upgrade and power line project in Amarillo, Texas in order to accommodate the rising customer demand.

The project involved the installation of a new substation transformer and three new feeder lines at the Farmers Substation. Apart from meeting new customer demand, the upgrades also enhance the reliability of the distribution network by offering more options to reroute power during outages.

In addition to the completed upgrades, Xcel Energy has other expansion and upgrade plans for Amarillo and its surrounding cities. These include the construction of the Arnot Substation to enhance reliability and capacity and the development of the Ashby Substation to increase the capacity for new commercial customers and provide alternative power routing during extreme weather events.

The investments made by Xcel Energy in substation and distribution infrastructure have played a crucial role in attracting 3,000 new jobs and over $2 B in capital investment to Amarillo over the past two years.
