Homes and businesses near Clachnaharry, Raigmore and Inverness city centre were without power on the morning of September 15 after a reported fire at a substation in Waterloo Place. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that fire crews were called to a fire at Waterloo Place in the early hours of the morning. It is understood appliances were stood down at 6am this morning after bringing the blaze under control.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted to a building fire at Waterloo Place, Inverness at 3.30am on Friday, September 15. Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire affecting a single-storey plant room. Crews worked to make the area safe. There were no reported casualties.”
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks confirmed the unplanned outage, but added that engineers on site were in the process of power restoration.
