Pakistan, Islamabad: PowerChina has commenced full-scale construction of Mansehra 765/220 kV substation, which would transmit electricity from Dasu Hydropower Station to Islamabad Power Grid.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Mansehra 765 kV substation, Pakistan’s first 765 kV substation, was held at the project site, signaling the commencement of full-scale construction. The substation is located in the city of Mansehra and should facilitate power transmission between Dasu Hydropower Project and Islamabad with the help of 765/220 kV voltage for the first time. This voltage grade represents the highest capacity substation in Pakistan at present.

The substation will help alleviate local power shortages and promote economic development by transmitting clean energy. In January 2023, PowerChina and NTDC had inked the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the substation.
