India, Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd has strengthened the transmission network of Tikamgarh district by commissioning a new power transformer.

In a release, the state power transmission utility MPPTCL said that it has installed and energized a new 160 MVA transformer at the 220 kV Tikamgarh substation, the cost of which is estimated at Rs. 5.77 crore ($694000). The new installation is poised to benefit consumers of the areas of Jatara, Digoda, Budhaira, Tikamgarh, Bada Malhara and Prithvipur with quality electricity supply and proper voltage profile.

Thanks to the new transformer, the transformation capacity of the substation has risen to 540 MVA and that of the entire Tikamgarh district to 793 MVA. MPPTCL has five EHV substations in the district.
