Oman, Muscat: Oman has inaugurated the Phase 1 of the strategic interconnection project Rabt, worth $476 M.

The Oman Electricity Transmission Company’s (OETC) Rabt project is considered one of the strategic and significant initiatives in the electricity sector, divided into two phases, with the first phase comprising 5 grid stations and 400 kV overhead transmission lines with a length of 660 km. The project’s aim is to enhance the sustainability, availability, and reliability of the electricity transmission network throughout the Sultanate of Oman. It also aims to reduce operational costs, contribute to carbon emissions reduction, improve economic growth, and attract foreign investments.

The five grid stations are the Nahida grid station with a voltage of 400/132 kV, Suwayhat grid station with a voltage of 400/132 kV, Barik grid station with a voltage of 400/132 kV, Duqm grid station with a voltage of 400/132/33 kV, and Mahout grid station with a voltage of 400/33 kV.
