India: Electricity transmission company Power Grid Corporation of India was declared a successful bidder under a tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) for a transmission project in Rajasthan.

A Letter of Intent (LoI) was issued on 29th December 2023, which has been received by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited on 1st January 2024.

“In terms of Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, this is to inform that Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been declared as successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding to establish Inter-State Transmission System for “Transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20GW) under Phase-III Part D – Phase I” on Build, Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis,” the firm said.

“The scope of the project comprises establishment of 02 nos. 765 kV D/C transmission lines traversing in Rajasthan and Delhi alongwith associated bays extension works at existing substations located in Rajasthan and Delhi,” it added.

The company emerged last year as the successful bidder under tariff based competitive bidding, for the acquisition of Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Limited to establish transmission scheme for solar energy zone in Ananthpuram (Ananthapur) (2500 MW), and it has also bagged Kurnool (1000 MW) project in Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, it recently made the decision to commission an 85 MW solar project in Madhya Pradesh.

The project is valued at INR 554.91 crore ($66.6 million). It is slated for commissioning within ten months from the date of the award. The solar project entails an additional five-year operation and maintenance phase.
