Transformer failure knocks out power to Kauai
A transformer failure resulted in an island-wide outage on Kauai on Thursday afternoon, according to the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative.

USA, Kauai: A transformer failure resulted in an island-wide outage on Kauai on Thursday afternoon, according to the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative.
The failure occurred at the Port Island Generating Station at around 2:15 pm local time on Thursday. According to the utility, power to almost all customers was restored within 90 minutes but, as of 4:30 pm local time, scattered outages totalling an area of about 200 meters were still being addressed by KIUC personnel. It is not yet known what caused the failure.
