Uzbekistan: The first 400 MW phase of China Energy Engineering Group’s (CEEC) 1 GW solar project has been connected to the grid in Uzbekistan.

The project uses Arctech’s trackers tailored to withstand Uzbekistan’s frequent sandstorms and dry climate. Once fully operational, the 1 GW project should generate 2.4 billion kWh annually while creating 1600 local jobs.

A grid connection ceremony was attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to mark the occasion. The project is part of the collaboration between China and Central Asia in building green infrastructure along the Belt and Road initiative.
