Romania, Târgu Mureș: Romanian electricity and natural gas distributor Delgaz Grid has completed a project worth 37.2 million lei ($8.2 million/€7.5 million) to modernise five substations.

The substations modernised are all located in the eastern county of Vaslui, and supply electricity to 40,000 customers in the cities of Husi and Murgeni and the communes of Stanilesti, Vetrisoara, and Falciu. Of the total project costs, 23 million lei were covered by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), 4 million lei were provided by the state budget, and 10.2 million lei were Delgaz Grid’s own resources, the company said in a press release. The project involved replacing high- and medium-voltage equipment and integrating the substations into a smart grid control system.

Delgaz Grid operates a natural gas network of 25,800 km in twenty counties and an 81,500 km electricity grid in six counties in northern and western Romania. The company is a subsidiary of the German utility E.ON.
