Nigeria, Abuja: The Transmission Company of Nigeria has successfully energised a new 60 MVA power transformer at its 132/33KV Okenne Transmission Substation in Kogi State.

TCN also inaugurated a 60 MVA power transformer at its 132/33 kV Amukpe transmission substation in Delta State. The company emphasized that energising the transformers was part of the efforts by the Federal Government to boost electricity supply in the country. It has been disclosed that the new transformer had increased the capacity of Okenne substation to wheel more bulk power to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company by 48 MW, which means it can now offtake more electricity for customers within its franchise area.

The launch of the 60 MVA power transformer in Amukpe has increased the capacity of the substation from 100 MVA to 120 MVA, giving the Benin DisCo bulk power to serve its customers in Delta State. The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, warned against vandalising TCN installations in Nigeria. He gave the warning during his visit to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
