Poland: GE Vernova and Polimex Mostostal will build the onshore infrastructure facilities that will export power from the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm.

PGE announced on Thursday that the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) deal was awarded by Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA and Denmark’s Ørsted A/S. The consortium will install a 275/400 kV high-voltage transformer substation and onshore export cable lines that will transmit electricity from the offshore park to the Polish grid. The connection facilities will be built in the Wejherowo district of Pomerania region.

GE Vernova and its partner will kick off construction activities this year, while testing of the interconnection infrastructure will be performed in 2026. All facilities will become fully operational in 2027. Baltica 2 is part of the 2.5 GW Baltica Offshore Wind Farm project, located around 40 km off Poland’s northern coast, between Leba and Ustka. The plant is planned to go online by the end of 2027.
