Jones Bros’ £24 M substation for Morlais

Civil engineering firm Jones Bros has handed over the substation it built for the 240 MW Morlais tidal energy project on the Welsh island of Anglesey.

UK, Wales: The substation near Holyhead was constructed at a cost of £24 million ($30.3 million/€28 million). Its delivery represents the completion of the first phase of the project within the set timeframe and budget.

The Morlais project is led and owned by not-for-profit social enterprise Menter Mon and funded by the European Regional Development fund through the Welsh government. The project also benefits from the support of the Isle of Anglesey County Council, The Nuclear Restoration Service, and the North Wales Growth Deal.
