Colombia, Bogotá: The public tender had participation from six national and international bidders, and Celsia’s bid was chosen due to its compliance with the technical requirements set by Colombia’s national government and its competitive pricing, said Julian Cadavid, Celsia’s Transmission and Distribution leader.

The Carreto project includes building transmission lines connected to the Chinu-Sabanalarga 500 kV circuit and adding a substation with expansion capacity for future connections. It will be located in the municipality of San Juan Nepomuceno in Bolivar. The infrastructure is expected to be in service by 2027.

Celsia operates 17 transmission substations and 274 km of lines in the country. It generates electricity mainly from hydro, but it also has 300 MWp of solar power capacity in the home market.
